Advantage Bed Review: Design and Features

The Tempurpedic Advantage has a top of 0.8 inches of Tempur foam material, and beneath that another 2.8 inch layer of similar material. These 3.6 inches of memory foam are what makes this bed feel great to sleep on. No pressure points, no uncomfortable spots, no parts of the bed which sag more. Just a comfortable, uniform feel all over the bed, which conforms and supports you while you sleep.
The top layers of foam sit on top of a base layer for support and enhanced air flow. This addresses somewhat the issue that people find that a memory foam mattress is “warmer” to sleep on. Getting extra air flow can help cool you down in the warmer months. All told, the whole mattress is about 8 inches thick, a pretty normal mattress thickness.
If you’re not familiar with memory foam, be sure to read our page about memory foam mattresses. Memory foam is a wonderful material, and there’s no better manufacturer than Tempur Pedic. The make the top quality memory foam and always have.
The Advantage bed is covered by a removable, washable cover for convenience. This will handle small spills and keep your mattress clean and free of dust and dirt. It’s also allergen resistant for those who have trouble with coughing and sneezing.
As with the other Tempurpedic beds, the AdvantageBed is designed so that you never have to rotate or flip it. It’s a one sided mattress. Furthermore, this mattress can accommodate several different bases: a traditional box spring base, a low profile box spring, or you can simply place it on a platform if you have a suitable bed frame. The box springs are also available in two piece versions for convenience in the larger sizes of queen, king, and Cal. king.
The Advantagebed comes with a 20 year warranty, and tends to last much longer than a comparable innerspring mattress. This makes it a much more cost effective mattress over its lifetime.
Recommendations
The Mattress Reporter recommends the Tempurpedic Advantage Bed if you want a top quality memory foam mattress at a reasonable price. Here are some similar beds that you should look into if you’re considering buying an Advantage Bed:
- The Tempur-Pedic Original Bed is only available in twin, XL twin, and full sizes. However, if you’re looking for a bed one of these sizes, you’ll probably get a lower price on the Original Bed. The original bed is a great bed for teenagers or young people just getting their own mattress.
- The Rhapsody Bed is a step up (both in quality and price) from the Advantage Bed. It features softer Tempur-ES material and a thicker memory foam layer than the Advantagebed. If you can afford a bit more, we’d highly recommend moving up to this mattress.
- The Tempur-Pedic Cloud series is a line of mattresses designed to be softer than the traditional Tempur feel. If you or your partner prefer a softer, more plush feel, you should check out these mattresses.
