Softside Beds
First of all, if you own a softside waterbed, you don’t need special waterbed sheets. These types of waterbeds are made to be the same sizes as traditional mattresses: king, queen, and twin. So, for example, your can use your existing king size sheets as your king waterbed sheets.
Hardside Beds
For hardside waterbeds, which are different sizes from traditional mattress and by nature require different sheets, you’ll have to get a set of specialty sheets. These sheets are designed to stay on the waterbed even through the natural motion of the bed. There are a couple of different types of waterbed sheet sets. The older type has a bottom sheet which has four large pockets sewn into it. These hold the sheet put, anchoring it firmly to the mattress. At the foot of the sheet, the top sheet is sewn in. A newer type of sheet has a top sheet with two pockets sewn in at the foot of the sheet. Either way, this keeps the sheet put. Another option is to use a bottom sheet with pockets and at traditional sheet on top. You might find that the sheet is harder to keep in place than with a regular bed, however.
Waterbed sheets are available in the usual sizes: king and queen waterbed sheets fit mattresses of those sizes. Super single waterbed sheets fit the slightly larger than twin sized super single bed. In addition, you can get cotton, flannel, satin, silk, and other types of synthetic sheets for your waterbed.
